MP006 | IMPIUM – “Ever Old”

Two decades have passed since in a cold night the basques forests gave birth to Impium. Spawned in 1999, Impium is one of the most unknown dwellers of the Underground Metal Abyss indeed. A silent unholy monster moving between the shadows, but not quiet. Impium’s demos always have been clandestine and have been listened by a closed circle, (except of two demos which were self-released in digital /bandcamp/ in 2005 and 2017), till the miserable year of 2020, when in conspiracy with the recently spawned record label Malevolent Productions, Impium is unearthed from the deepest depths of the Underground Metal Abyss. Under the mark of Malevolent Productions have been presented three of those demos to summarize Impium’s legacy; in the “Demo’17 & Demo’05” compilation (which compilate the only two released Impium’s works, self-released in digital /bandcamp/ in its respective years) and in the Impium/Infinitum SPLIT (presenting for the first time to Infinitum and in which are presented Impium’s demo 2000 and Infinitum’s demo’99, both unreleased).

After all the struggles and all this time, Impium finally scourges with its debut full-length and Malevolent Productions is extremely proud to release and present it for the joy and bliss of us all. A mini-album of 30 minutes, 5 tracks plus a bonus track, but extremely powerfull and worthy to considerate an album. A fucking Unholy statement of darkness.

With “Ever Old” Impium manifest what has been proving with its two previous releases with this label and clandestine works; A rawness and melodies which evocates the norwegian, french, finnish (but in every country indeed) past and primitive black metal warfare against the “modern” sound and extremely “clean” productions preconceived under well established canons with the main objective of being an easily accepted and easily consumed thing by the people(scum), instead of being a declaration of genuine war against the established ways. If we behold the name and the concept “Ever Old” we are contemplating the whole ideology or primal idea within it and what Impium stands and fights for: rawness, the way of the olds who started the metallic rebellion and ideological orthodoxy or purity in that sense, which is not contradictory to the musical evolution (inevitable indeed), it’s a statement of keep metal and the metallic spirit fucking pure! Fuck to those scum who corrupted the metal. Hail to those, practitioners of metallic rebellion!
